9. "YAMA OFFERS OF 3 BOONS TO NACIKETAS"

Mantram-9.


1. Lord of Death Yama  apologising  for his absence and to make Naciketas waiting for three days without food and water,


2. And,  in return an atonement in the form of three boons (varam),


3.  From 1 to 9 mantrams: Summary- To keep his father's words Naciketas goes to the Yamalokam  to meet Lord of Death, the Yama. There for three nights he remains unfed. To atone for his inhospitality, Lord Death Yama offers the boy three boons.
